FAQs

WHAT TO EXPECT

FIRST VISIT: If time permits, you can expect to spend approximately 1.5 hours with Dr. Abitbol. She will review your health history in detail and will check your pulse, tongue, and abdomen. Then, she will discuss your treatment plan options, and you will receive your first acupuncture treatment.

SUBSEQUENT VISITS: Follow-up visits are approximately 1 hour. For every visit, Dr. Abitbol will re-evaluate your presenting symptoms and objectives.

SHOULD I DISCUSS TREATMENT WITH MY REGULAR DOCTOR?

It is recommended that you consult your primary care physician (or specialist) about all of the approaches you take to improve your health.

CANCELLATION POLICY

A minimum of 48 hours notice (2 business days) is required for canceling/rescheduling any appointment. We pride ourselves in spending individualized time with each patient one-on-one.

FREQUENCY OF TREATMENTS?

Depending on the modality you choose, your main complaint, and your current health condition, a treatment plan will be tailored to each individual's needs.

AM TREATMENT: 3-phase treatment plan including remedies (and available at an additional cost). This gentle and holistic treatment is maintained at home for several days or weeks. Appointments will occur less frequently than traditional acupuncture therapies. This makes it convenient for high-paced lifestyles with less time to spend in treatment.

ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT: Review of systems of physical evaluation according to TCM Principles. Treatment plan and dosage will be recommended.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR SAAT AURICULAR EVALUATION AND TREATMENT?

Upon arrival, you must remove all metal jewelry and any battery-operated devices. Auricular therapy requires ear access (similar to the SAAT allergy treatment). Please wear something comfortable to access the local treatment areas.

WHICH THERAPY IS RIGHT FOR ME?

It is personal, depending on the issues you are facing and your goals for healing. A combination of therapies may be applied to reach the highest possibility of improvement.

IF YOU ARE SCARED OF NEEDLES

OTHER TREATMENT OPTIONS: Craniosacral Therapy, Auricular Medicine with Remedies only, Press Seeds, Cupping, Moxibustion, and Tui-na.

DO YOU ACCEPT HEALTH INSURANCE?

Currently, we can only honor out-of-network insurance coverage. We do not bill insurance companies directly and will provide you with an invoice for reimbursement upon request. Please call your insurance company to ask if you have coverage for acupuncture treatment. Although your insurance may cover acupuncture, most insurers only cover a few specific conditions. Please verify with your insurance company that they cover the diagnosis for which you seek treatment. The office accepts cash, checks, and all major credit cards.

Several years ago, upon the recommendation and urging of my physical therapist, I began treatment with Dr. Abitbol, a fully licensed acupuncturist. Initially, treatment was for worsening lower back pain and stenosis, causing pain to radiate down both legs. Subsequently, as I got older (now almost 83), she treated me for ankle/leg swelling, tingling and numbness in both feet, cardiac surging, and fibrillation. She is the consummate professional. During that time, my wife and I would see her for weekly treatment sessions. Beyond her professional qualifications, Dr. Abitbol is a deeply caring individual who strives to help her patients. My wife and I have found her to be amazing in what she has accomplished.
